Let's start with Tabata even though it's going to be chronologically backwards.
This morning, I changed up the class by running the exercises in Tabata intervals. You pick an exercise and do it quickly for 20 seconds and then take a 10 second break. You do this 8 times per exercise. A common practice is to do this with 4 different exercises and call it a day.
That's what we did and I'm going to say it again, dude, am I out of shape way off my peak. I thought I would go full bore to start out with by doing body weight squats with a jump. Squat down, touch the ground, jump up in the air a little bit, and then drop straight back into a squat. I was able to do that for the first two rounds and then I had to stay earthbound for the rest of the intervals. We did four exercises and my lungs were absolutely burning. 16 minutes of exercise and I was gasping for air.
It didn't help at all that I have had a massive headache for about a day now and I'm not sure what's up with that. When we finished lunges, I sat down and pressed my hands against the sides of my heads to keep it from exploding. This headache takes me back to the days when I used to get migraines. I still have a headache as I type this now. I can't think of what might be causing it unless it's plain old stress. I have a lot on my mental plate right now. Oh, and I haven't been sleeping for the last few days. Nothing more than a few hours a night after you add up all the bits and pieces of sleep that I have been getting.
Okay, and now that I'm writing this and digging deeper into possibilities, I just went off the last of my meds for the back/shoulder/neck thing that has been going on for the last 5 months. I tapered off of all of them and not all at the same time so I figured that I was safe but my body could still be responding to that, I suppose.
My #1 guess is going to be sleep and I'm hoping to be able to get some tonight.
Now, back up to last night. I went to a movie. I know! Weird! In a theater, even.
The Expendables.
I had to do it even though I wasn't expecting to enjoy it much. I was wrong. It was a fun movie where all these action heroes seemed to be just playing around half the time.
Can you believe Sylvester Stallone is 62? Dude!
The scene between him and Arnold was funny.
The fight scenes (well, pretty much the whole movie is a fight scene but anyway) were good too. I liked Jason Statham's style in this movie. Jet Li was in the movie too and he had a fight scene against Dolph Lundgren. There's a size difference for you. I don't know if it's because I can relate more to Statham's style than Li's but it really caught my eye in this movie. Obviously, everything gets Hollywooded up but there was just something intriguing about it for me. I may have to watch it again when it comes out on video to dissect it more.
I also may have to watch more of Statham's movies. I've only seen a couple because I can't really get into the movie itself but I might be able to sit through them if I'm watching his fighting style. Something to consider.
I don't delve into the world of politics much on this blog anymore because I really want to stay focused on the topics surrounding health/fitness/activities but tomorrow I am going to have to tell you about our mayor. He made the front page of the paper this week because the police have a criminal investigation going on him. People that don't know what the charges are, and that's not many in a small town, have taken guesses because the paper didn't list them. They have all been wrong in their guesses.
Wishing You Success!
