So,
It's been a while since we've done some homework help and it seems I have been asking last minute this term. As an oddity, I'm going to think ahead and ask a couple questions for next week's assignments.
But first, a word from out sponsor.
We have a sponsor?
No.
I've been working with Trey on his mad math skillz this summer. Nothing too strenuous. He is on summer break, after all. Right now, he's up to his 8's. He can do them but he has to actually figure some of them out instead of having them memorized. To speed up his calculations, I've been teaching him things like x = (8 * 10) - (8 * 1) to figure out 8 * 9. He's pretty good at it and what I found on previous levels is that after figuring it out a couple of times, he ends up memorizing the answer and no longer needs to figure it out. He's looking forward to getting past 8's and 9's because he says that 10's, 11's, and 12's are going to be easy.
Wait until I show him the finger trick on 9's. Easy peasy lemon squeezey.
I'm hoping that we can get through division before he heads back to school.
Okay, on to your homework:
What techniques have you found to be effective in persuading others to accept your views?
What techniques have you found that did the opposite?
