I have plenty to talk about but I read this article about a new ploy by credit card companies so I thought I would interject it here.
Credit card companies are trying to capture their market in college by putting the school logo on credit cards. This isn't a surprise. College graduates on average make more money than nongraduates so this is a good market to go after. Plus they are young enough and not money educated enough that they might fall for the ploy.
In fact, one woman interviewed for the article loved the idea. She said that she liked to use her credit card now that she was out of school to show the world where she went to college. Shallowness aside, you would think a t-shirt would show the world more.
What might surprise you about the ploy is that the colleges are helping out. It won't surprise you when you find out that they get a kickback from the credit card companies. All they have to do is authorize the use of the logo and sell their students' registration information like address, phone #, and email address. The credit card companies do the rest by sending out college spirit propaganda in the form of a credit card offer.
And the battle continues.
