"Obama says US economy sound, reassures investors"
That was the headline that I read yesterday. The market goes up for 4 days and this is what the president said, sounding very much like McCain when everyone who was actually watching knew that the country was in a recession, possibly a depression.
Things are worse now than when McCain made a fool of himself.
Tent cities are springing up across the nation.
Unemployment isn't supposed to hit it's lowest point until sometime after 2009.
There are predictions of tax revolts taking place this year.
And as far as the stock market, some predictions say that it won't bottom out until it's in the 4,000s. Yet, somehow 4 days of good stock market news means that the economy is sound?
Quite frankly, it sounds like Obama is desperate. He hasn't even made it to the 100th day yet and he sounds desperate. What does it feel like to wake up knowing that you are in charge of the worst mess this country has seen in at least 80 years, and maybe since the Civil War and know that you have 3 years and 10 months left?
I would feel sorry for Him if I thought he was really trying to make things better. Nearly everyone that doesn't get paid by the president to spread His message agrees though that Obama's policies are going to make things worse.
As a note, when I say "Obama", I'm including the sellout Congress in with him just as I did when criticizing Bush. Neither of them can destroy the country by themselves. They don't actually have the power to do that.
As a second note, I think that Obama's rah-rah superpowers are actually going to work against him for his presidency. He used his inspirationaly words of hope and change to win the people over but now that he actually is in on the decision making and his actions belie his words, the dichotomy between the two will prove harder on the morale of the people than Bush's idiocy and inarticulateness.
I know the hope is that he can continue to preach hope and change while continuing the policies of the puppet-masters and somehow keep the people from getting pissed enough to rise up. I just don't know if that's going to work if people start dying from malnutrition, diseases such as dysentery, and exposure.
Disease has already been pointed out as a prime concern for tent cities and the other symptoms will follow with time and an increase of tent city populations.
Has this become an eventuality? I would like to think no but I half wonder if the reason that the Obama machine is taking the assinine steps it's taking is because we have reached the point of no return. The political machine, especially since Reagan (but not without outstanding contributions from Woodrow Wilson and Richard Nixon), has brought us to this point where it doesn't matter what we do, all hell is going to break loose and that Obama hopes that by doing something, it will help people emotionally.
Have we let our debtor society create such a false illusion of life that allowing a natural reset would create nearly instant pandamonium? Maybe.
Will Obama's policies head that off? Probably not.
Is the economy sound? Hell no.
