"Am I payin' you to lean up against the ladder? Get to work?"
November 25th is my birthday and the date of my next round of update pictures on my physical fitness journey. A journey that has been at a standstill for about a month due to illness. The journey was moving forward as far as strength and fitness before that but not fat loss.
That means that I have about 5 weeks to get healthy, eat better, and burn some extra calories. Is 10 pounds too big of a goal? That's what I'd like to see. 2 pounds a week is doable if I can watch my nutrition.
That's the tough part for me. I've always said that the beautiful thing about exercising as much as I do is that I can eat quite a bit. The problem is, I do. =)
I don't gain weight but I don't lose any either. I'm going to have to change that mindset for the next 5 weeks. I've been really bad about food choices while I've been sick so I'll be going back to plenty of raw fruits and vegetables for the next month.
I've been working on my exercise schedule and here's what I'm thinking as my starting point. The goal is to get 2 workouts in a day except Sunday.
I'll keep doing my women's fitness class every weekday morning.
Monday and Wednesday afternoon will be my karate class with the intense workouts.
Tuesday and Friday, I'm going to add in a couple of long runs. I'm hoping for runs between 6 and 9 miles each day. I'm off work in the afternoons and Trey is in preschool and the weather is cool enough that I can run midday. I can't pull this off in the summer but it will work nicely in fall and winter.
Thursday, I'll do some sort of cardio DVD when I get home from work. I'm thinking P90X Kenpo X or P90X+ Kenpo Cardio or Turbo Jam Cardio Party. I'll probably alternate between them all over the next few weeks.
Saturday, I'm going to be working out with a friend in my garage. We'll be doing some kind of weight training. We haven't decided what type we're going to do, whether it will be more traditional lifting or more like our karate workouts.
I'm not sure about a second workout on Saturday. Probably a cardio DVD again if I have the energy. Saturday will be the hardest day to get a second workout in because of sleep and work issues. I think I can pull something off, at least for 5 weeks.
Sunday will be P90X X Stretch just to get everything stretched out and ready for the next week.
I'll be getting back in for massages again. My massage therapist has taken some time off because she was getting married. Some people are so selfish. Her husband was at work last night so I'll give her a call to see if I can get in each week.
In theory, all of this should add up to improvement. I really should count my calories to optimize the plan but I really don't like doing that. I've done it in the past and it is the best way to make progress but I just have a hard time doing it. We'll see how each day goes. I eat mostly the same stuff each week so it's pretty easy to adjust the amounts that I eat without actually writing it down.
If it works, it will be just in time for Thanksgiving. Nice.
