Disclaimer: This P90X review is just one guy's journey through 90 days to see what happens. Your results will probably be different based on any number of things (diet, intensity, other activities) and you should be healthy enough for hard workouts before you start this program.
I weighed myself to start off Day 67. 188 pounds. I'm averaging a 1 pound loss per week. I just might make it down to 185 by the end of the 90 days. It doesn't really matter but it would just be nice.
I'm already looking ahead and planning what I'm going to do after this first 90 days. I'd like to see if I can get down to 175 pounds in the first half of next year. I should aim for a bodyfat percentage because weight isn't that important. It's just a hard habit to get out of.
I did Yoga X and did a little better on Crane. It's probably going to be some time before I can do some of the one leg poses with my left foot but I think trying is making my ankle stronger. There is one pose that I can't find the name on and I don't think that I can explain it either. I'll check around a bit to see if I can find a pic somewhere. Anyway, it's a pose that I didn't think I would ever be able to do. I didn't even set it as a goal somewhere down the road to be able to do it. I was able to do it on one side today which was amazing. I suppose that as long as I keep doing it, I'll end up being able to do it on the other side as well.
Day 68 was Legs and Back. I was able to crank out more pull-ups again. Each week, I'm able to do more pull-ups and that's dang cool. It was one of the main things that I was hoping to get out of this program. There are 8 sets of pull-ups in the workout and the first time I did it, I was able to do 4 pull-ups total. Yikes! Today I was able to do 28 pull-ups. Tony Horton does about 120 on the DVD so I have a long way to go but if I can keep adding 3 to 4 a week, I will there in another 25 weeks or so. =)
I think that's a big reason people don't try this kind of thing. Half a year is a long time to keep on trying at something.
A lot of people also wait too long before they try to make a change. Tia and I are going on a cruise next June and we want to look good in swimming suits so we've started. That gives my my half a year to get up to 120 pull-ups.
I mean, how long before it happens do people know about their 20 year high school reunion? Uh, about 20 years. That's a long time to get into shape, a shape besides round. Instead, they try in the last month and they try unhealthy things.
Life happens though and we let ourselves go. Been there, done that. We just have to keep on trying.
I did Kenpo X on Day 69. I was sweating like usual. This is the one DVD where I do more than the people on the DVD. Sweat is just running off my face when I get done. I miss my running but I never pushed myself when I ran like I do when I do this DVD. This is much more of an intense workout. I'll go back to running when my schedule allows it because I enjoy it but as far as working out, this is much better for me.
I tried a new protein bar today.
Worldwide Protein Revolution Bars, Box Of 12, Chocolate Peanut Caramel - It's made by the same company that makes my favorite protein bars. These are even better. It's kind of like a Snickers if Snickers had 32 grams of protein and low net carbs. It's layered like a Snickers though and is very tasty. Protein bars have come a long way over the years. If you have avoided protein bars in the past because of the taste, try these.
Day 70 started with my martial arts class. We worked out pretty hard and then practiced. One of my students ended up hurting my throat with one of the moves. I'm not sure what damage he did but it hurt on the inside. It wasn't the normal sore neck muscles but actually hurt my throat.
I did X Stretch after class and then had a nap. I don't know if I didn't get enough sleep or if martial arts class took it all out of me but I felt wiped out for the rest of the day.
70 days down and 20 more to go. I can't believe that 90 days are almost gone. 2 more weeks until the next recovery week. It has just flown by and I am really happy with the results. My wife told me this week that my gut is looking so much better.
I'm going to try and take a better picture for my 90 day pic for my site. The 60 day pic was in the shadow. You can see the difference but I think my 90 day results are going to be very nice.
