I suppose that it shouldn't be surprising in the least. People die in casino hotels. They die of natural causes (drinking that much alcohol without eating and not taking your life sustaining meds *naturally* leads to death). They commit suicide ("What have I done? How will I tell her that I lost all our money and our house?"). They are murdered ("Throw his arms in that suitcase. I'll put the body in this one. We can use a luggage cart to get him to the car.")
It's not shocking then that some of them weren't quite ready to leave this plane of existance. Not shocking, as I sit here in the daylight in the safety of my home. It's a bit more shocking when you're walking the hallways of the hotel by yourself at 2am.
Especially if that hallway is the 4th floor of Tower #1.
I wish I could give you a cool story about why this particularly hallway is haunted but so far, no one has been able to tell me. Maybe two cool stories because most of the people that come down from that floor have had one of two things happen.
"Don't look in the mirrors," is advice I have heard several times. You should see the hallway to understand just how impossible this is. Just about the whole thing has mirrors. You would have to close your eyes not to look in the mirrors. Even when you don't look *at* the mirrors, he's there. I don't know who *he* is but enough people have seen him that we all know he's there.
He watches you walk down the hallway. He makes the hair stand up on the back of your neck. Even if you don't look at him, you can feel him watching you. It's not a guardian angel feeling or Casper the friendly ghost kind of experience. You get the distinct impression that if he could reach out of the mirror and wrap his fingers around your throat, he would.
Maybe he's mad that we can move around anywhere we want and he's stuck in this hallway. Maybe he was a killer when he was alive. Maybe he's mad at something else and wouldn't really harm us but there is no mistaking the feeling of hate in the hallway when he's there.
Not looking in the mirrors doesn't help with the other ghost that roams this hallway and it's quite the opposite experience. I haven't had this one happen to me yet but I've had plenty of people tell me about it. People walking this hallway can hear a small child running down the hallway laughing.
Other than being a bit freaked out because there isn't anyone visible in the hallway, no one has ever mentioned anything menacing about this ghost. The child is laughing and running down the hall away from the person walking in the hallway. I haven't heard of any particular time or place where the child starts running or when the child disappears (except that it's in that hallway) but all the stories that I hear are very similar.
I might have to ask people that have been around for a while if they know anything about our two ghosts. There are usually some very interesting stories behind appearances like this.
