"Which one of you is April?"
So,
The weather outside is another wonderful, warm, sunny, spring day. Unfortunately, I am not going to get much time to enjoy it but Trey and I will still out get out for a bit of catch. He's getting better at catching. He has a great arm and can bat well enough that we don't practice around here for fear of a ball going through someone's window. Catching was his weak point so that's what we've been doing.
Spring means new beginnings, at least for me. In fact, the first day of the year where the weather is over 60 degrees might as well be called New Year's Day for me.
Not that I will actually being anything "new". Instead, what I see happening is a simplification. A true focus on what I believe is important to me at the moment. As an example, take my Droid . . . please.
I'm getting rid of it. I had a first generation Droid and there were a lot of cool things about it. In fact, it could do just about anything except be used as a telephone. It was a shitty telephone. It was hard to hear and be heard when talking on the Droid. It got to the point in the last couple of weeks that I would pull up the contact information on my Droid and use a land-line or my work cell phone to make the call. I started thinking that was a tad insane.
On our last trip to civilization, we went to a Verizon store and I told the salesgirl that I wanted a phone. It didn't have to do anything else. I just had to have a phone and a QWERTY keyboard would great. I'm not a texter but when I do need to send a text, I can't do the numberpad thing. She showed me what was available. Not a whole lot.
It probably won't be too long before there are no phones available except smart phones.
It's been a week now and I don't miss the Droid. I can talk on this phone. It's smaller. It seems more durable (my Droid fell off in my last tussle which brought about dread of it being lost or broken). I don't have to pay for insurance on it because it will just be cheaper to buy a new phone if needed. To date, I haven't lost or broken a cell phone so I'm not overly concerned about it.
Someone tell my women seem to drop their phone in the toilet so often.
Anyway, there is more to it than what I have said but for today, it's enough.
Now on to the simple pleasure of playing catch with my son while enjoying the good weather.
