It was pointed out to me that I haven't posted to this blog in about two weeks. Boy, how time flies when you're buried in homework. I don't want this blog to die a death caused by neglect but I'm unsure of what to post. My life is consumed by education and English classes. Anything you want to know?
The more I learn about public education, the more I realize that I need to find a way to get Trey out of it. I wish I could afford to home school him. I'm going to be looking into some way of making that happen.
I went on a field trip Tuesday (my 500 miles of traveling day) and met many of the students in my class. I'm the oldest, by far, which isn't surprising.
The instructor invited me to join the live class when I have time. I may have to do that. Not sure when I'm going to have time but I'll try to work something out.
Time is something in short supply for me. With six classes and my weekends eaten up by work, it seems that I'm always in a rush to finish something. Hence, the lack of posting to this blog.
Still, I should be able to fit something in here but it will likely be something related to school, like the Homework Help posts.
I have had a rather interesting lack of discussion with my fellow education students on the discussion boards. Not that I blame them. They have been programmed that way, and in this sense, my distance in years from the public school system and my experiences give me a much different view of the world than they see.
One of my English classes is going to be discussing something to do with Obama and another one about Christianity. If I can keep the discussion off of morals and ethics, these might be passionate enough subjects to spark some interesting thoughts from people. I'll post the actual questions when I come across them again.
I also post interesting articles on the discussion board about education and seem to get little to no response to those too. Such as Obama announcing that the puppet-masters would like to see an increase to the amount of time that students are in school by either lengthening the school day or increasing the number of days that students go to school. I didn't post any thoughts of my own (just a "did you see this?" and the link) and just wanted to see if anyone cared. Nope.
Politically, for the most part, I'm just staying quiet. My thoughts are too different and strike a nerve in most people that they don't really want struck. I don't have the time or energy right now to deal with people lashing out at me for threatening their propaganda induced belief system. Not that I want everyone to believe what I believe. That would be just as unethical. Everyone should believe what they want and everyone should be able to express those beliefs. Now, I *do* have the ability to express my beliefs but I find the responses too distracting from what I really need to be doing, which is homework. #1 priority right now is getting my degree so I can get out of the casino so political talk is reserved for like-minded people (however few of them that there are). I haven't seen any purpose in the arguing of politics. It desn't change minds, it just entrenches mind deeper into their own belief.
And similar to the fact that Trey shouldn't be in a public school, I'm probably going to have to move somewhere that has a private school where I can teach. I probably wouldn't last long in a public school. I'd have the kids standing on desks or doing crazy marches in the courtyard.
