It's Sword Point Saturday again and we have a lot to cover today.
First, let me say that I think I took too big of a step with the slogan contest. I'm going to follow through with the voting but we'll take a step back today and build up momentum for a second effort down the road.
Vote for the one that sounds the best to you out of today's choices. The one that has the most votes after two weeks will be the winner. The person that came up with the slogan will be awarded 25 Sword Points. After we have discussed the meaning of success and what it takes to be successful for a while, we'll have another slogan contest.
What I would like to do to get things started is ask everyone to give me their definition of success. It can be in the form of a short description, a long description, a story, or any other way that you would like to express yourself (podcast, video, etc). You can also take the position of what it takes to be successful (but you may still want to describe what successful is to you).
For short answers and for readers without blogs, you can leave your definition in the comments area. Longer answers can be left in the comments too or if you have a blog, you can do a post of your own on your blog and link it to this post.
10 Sword Points will be awarded for everyone that does a definition. There is no time limit on this so future visitors can score some retroactive points. I will create another poll in two weeks to vote on a favorite for bonus points and that will have a closing date. I'm not going to be awarding bonus points for the first person to complete the task this time because I don't want to rush anyone. I want people to be able to jot down thoughts for a couple of days if they want before they compose an answer. I think it will be interesting to see the different views on the subject.
I keep track of all the points for players on the Sword Point Scorecard in the sidebar. The first person to 100 points get the shirt right off this cute girl's back. I keep the topless girl, you get a shirt. It's a win/win situation.
The game will not end there. The person that gets to 100 will be reset to 0 and the game will continue. I will continue to give out prizes at 200, 300, 400, and 500 points. At 500 points, I'll reset everyone (in some fashion to be announced later) and we'll start again. I am working on a possible consolation prize for everyone that plays.
You may have noticed that the points are in different colors on the Sword Point Scorecard. I awarded everyone 10 points that took Taylor Hartman's Color Code test and let me know the results. This is another point earning feature that will have no end date. If you would like to earn 10 Sword Points, take the test and post your results in the comments section of this post.
I've decided not to put an ending date on getting the locations of my readers so if you would like the to earn the easiest 10 Sword Points to date, go to this post and post your location in the comments.
As always, and how this game started for those that are new to the blog, 5 Sword Points are awarded to anyone that sends me a link to an article by email that shows something funny, weird, bizarre, greedy, outrageous, or just plain brain-catching in some way about the world of finance or how the media treats the topic. Article submission Sword Points are awarded if I end up using the link in a post. You can earn the points if I use your link in the Chronicles blog too. That blog covers just about everything else in life so anything odd that isn't about money might end up there. I am always interested in the health and fitness (or lack thereof) of the people in US. Oddball products and programs may get spotlighted like the two featured in the Success Warrior Diet Program.
"Would you say that I have a plethora of ways to earn Sword Points?" - El Guapo from Three Amigos, had he been more concerned with this blog than with pinatas (which is hard choice that I hope I never have to make).
