Success Warrior Diet Program: P90X Journal (Cruise Plan Days 31 - 29)
Disclaimer: P90X is tough and you should be in decent shape before going all out using this system. You could certainly use P90X to get fit but listen to your body and only do what you can. This is *my* journal and I do not advocate that anyone do what I'm doing. Some of it is probably very foolish and you should do your own research and/or consult with a doctor before doing crazy stuff like this.
Day 31 - P90X Chest and Back followed by P90X Ab Ripper X to start the day.
In the afternoon was Turbo Jam 20 Minute Cardio.
In the evening was a couple hours of karate.
Walking: 3.27 miles.
Day 30 - Only 30 days left until I would have been going on a cruise. Things are going pretty good but have changed. I'll explain after listing the exercises for the day.
I started by spending 30 minutes alternating between wide grip pull-ups and curls. I just went back and forth between them with small breaks.
Tia didn't go exercise with her friend but still wanted to get some exercise in so I joined her in doing a Kathy Lee Tighter Assets stepper DVD.
In the afternoon, I did P90X Kenpo X. This is the one that I tried in my walking shoes reference in the last post. I was doing it in my karate/wrestling shoes but they aren't going to last much longer so I'm saving them for actual karate class. I'll be doing Kenpo X barefoot until I can get some new shoes.
Walking: 5.00 miles.
So, I'm 30 days out and things are going along just fine. I have made one big change that I wouldn't have done if I was still planning on going on the cruise. I've started adding calories into my diet, working my way toward maintenance. Weight loss is still my goal but there is no hurry now. I'm happy with a pound a week during the two heavier weeks and no weight loss during the recovery week. That hasn't happened since changing to my calorie confusion plan but I would be fine with it if it did.
I am exercising a lot and I want to stay healthy while doing it so the more food, the better. A pound a week isn't bad. I'd like to lose about 15 more pounds so that's 4 months if it actually happened like clockwork.
When I get there, it won't be such a shock to my system to adjust my calories up to where they should be. If you're losing 2 pounds a week and want to get to maintenance, you'd have to add about 1,000 calories a day to your nutrition plan. After not eating them for a while, that's going to be hard to do without feeling completely stuffed. By trying to hover between 0 and 1 pound of weight loss per week, I won't have as far to go to stop losing weight.
I should also be able to keep my energy and health levels up as I increase my karate practice while still working my fitness plan. That's the hope anyway.
Day 29 - P90X Shoulders and Arms followed by P90X+ Abs/Core Plus.
I did about 90 minutes of karate practice without the intense cardio.
Walking: 2.61 miles.
I weighed in today and I lost 1 pound for the week. That includes my huge meal at Olive Garden. One meal doesn't make or break a fitness plan though unless you use it as an excuse to say that you failed and keep on eating too much.
189 pounds with about 14 more to go. I've picked 175 arbitrarily for now. How I look and feel is more important but I'm thinking that 175 is probably going to have me looking pretty ripped. I'll be able to fine tune my goal as I get closer.
I've got a couple of amazing success stories but I think I'll save them for Tuesday because I need to do some work around the house.
If you're working on your fitness goals, keep up the good work.

I had a couple of breadsticks and that whole plate of pasta. For a guy that doesn't eat much bread and no pasta, it felt like I had eaten everything in sight.
It probably wasn't as bad as it felt (as a once in a while thing) and I still lost a pound for a week. Perceptions change when you keep at something long enough.
A couple years ago, that amount of food would have felt normal.
