Manic Movie Monday
Yes, I'm well aware that I'm still running a day behind. Deal with it. Also be warned that some of these might include spoilers.
Over the last couple of weeks, I've watched quite a few movies. I have a NetFlix subscription that was a gift from Cherise plus people lend me movies, out of pity I think. I don't go to movies and I don't watch TV and so therefore, my life is seen as lacking. As such, people lend me DVDs to complete my life. Here's what I've watched and a quick blurb about each.
Transformers - This one was lent to me because the special effects are cool as this girl is hot. It took Trey and I about a week watching a scene or two a day to get through the movie. There were some funny bits but it couldn't hold my interest. The only reason that I made it all the way through eventually was because Trey liked the robots. He still talks about the scorpion robot.
The Brave One - Another one that was lent to me. I didn't think I was going to like this one but I was wrong. I enjoyed how they built on each event and she found herself sliding toward vigilante.
Duck Soup - A Marx Brothers comedy provided by NetFlix. It was funny but not as funny as I remember. Some movies should be left to memory.
Being John Malkovich - Netflix. I didn't make it through this one. Too stupid and pointless. There was a time that I would finish any movie that I started, just because. Maybe it would get better. Maybe I would like the ending. Maybe there would be some interesting twist. I'm not like that anymore. I don't have much patience for maybes anymore.
The Guardian - Lent to Tia. Maybe she's in the same pity class as I am because she also doesn't go to movies but she will watch a TV show every once in a while.
Felt like An Officer And A Gentleman remake with some of the scenes just about directly stolen from the original. I had to watch it in halves because it was long and it wasn't a movie worth sacrificing sleep over but it was enjoyable enough.
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind - I almost turned this one off. As luck would have it, I decided to let it run while I worked on some karate stuff that allowed me to listen to the movie and work at the same time. The movie picked up after about 30 minutes and became interesting. I didn't particularly enjoy the movie as much as I liked the idea behind the movie and wanted to see how they played it out.
Beowulf - Lent to me. I've tried several times but I just can't through this one. I don't know how much I've watched of it. Beowulf has killed the monster and I don't remember what's after that. Nothing about this movie is grabbing me. I do want to see the rest just so I know how it ends but I'm probably going to have to take it in bite-size pieces like I did with Transformers.
Up next in the queue: Lent to me - Paycheck. I saw this years ago but a friend recommended that I watch it again. I don't remember why. I've had it for months. NetFlix - Lions for Lambs, Third Watch: Season 2, and Lazytown: Robbie's Greatest Misses (for Trey but I find them fun to watch as well).
I've seen more movies in the past month than I have in a long time. I used to be a movie watchin' fool but I've lost that loving feeling for movies. One of the most enjoyable movies I watched this year was Equilibrium, which I picked because it was recommended by Ricky T and Cherise. I had never heard of it before but found it to be a fascinating story plus it appealed to my martial arts side in a new way. Gun kata! Sweet!

Lazytown creeps me out. You and Trey need to watch Alvin and the Chipmunks. Chase and I love it... As for your Netflix views... I'm gonna start flinging stuff your way to watch.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is one of my all-time favorite sci-fi movies.
Another really interesting, weird film was Stranger than Fiction starring Will Ferrel.
And we love documentaries here in my house. Love.Them! I'd recommend New York Doll - about former punk star turned Mormon temple worker Arthur "Killer" Kane.

Summer, one thing that catches Trey about Lazytown is that I've been calling him Sparticus since before he was born.
Ricky T, I'll add those to my list.
