P90X Journal: Continuing the Journey

Disclaimer: This P90X review is just one guy's journey through 90 days to see what happens.  Your results will probably be different based on any number of things (diet, intensity, other activities) and you should be healthy enough for hard workouts before you start this program.

No_xcuses Please avert your eyes from the logo to the left while reading the next paragraph.

Okay, so at about day 70 of my P90X experiment, I ended up with a contusion on my trachea from one of my martial artists students putting a choke hold on me with a practice stick.  Good thing it was a practice stick.  After that I ended up with an ear infection and before that was completely cleared up, I got a bad cold.  Crazy.

After that, I ran out of excuses but I just used the excuse of inertia.  I didn't make it to the 90 days and there was no way to fix that so I didn't get going again on it.  I was extremely disappointed that I fell 20 days short.

By the time you read this, I will have started again.  Chest and Back and Ab Ripper X on Sunday.

There is good news in all of this though.

Ron Paul: Does it get more obvious?

Ronpaulapathy It was not my intention to discuss politics in consecutive posts but it was also not my intention to miss a few days of posting.  I do want to talk about money in the Success Warrior blog which is where the last post was supposed to be heading and will eventually arrive.  We had Deer Widow's weekend out here which is traditionally a time of young people getting extremely drunk and extremely stupid which means that I spent most of my time working and if I wasn't working, I was sleeping in preparation to deal with the drunken idiots.

I hit the internet in the last couple of days trying to catch up and the first thing that I find about Ron Paul is that he was boo'ed for wanting to pull out of the war.  Over 70% of Americans want our troops pulled out of the war and yet he gets boo'ed for saying what we all want.

My first thought was shock.  I'm one of those people that doesn't think we should be killing people in order to take control of their oil.  Let them have their country and we can negotiate for the oil like the rest of the world.  Maybe if people knew how much oil was going to cost in the near future they wouldn't be part of the 70% but that's a different story.

Ask a Cop: August 6th, 1993 - Part 7

Atomicbomb On August 6th, 1945, the first atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima.  It was an act of violence that changed the world and the way people thought from that point on.  48 years later to the day, I was involved in an act of violence on a much smaller scale that nevertheless changed me and the way I thought from that point on.

The chief and I walked into the police department.  This building must have been built in the 60s, I swear.  It had orange counter tops and yellow chairs that had the foam padding showing through the worn out material.  The desks were hundred pound steel army surplus things where the drawers squealed in protest when you opened them and sometimes had to be kicked shut.  The whole place was handmedowns.  Other departments would order new equipment and we would take the old stuff that they were going to throw in the dumpster.  The chief was proud that he was always able to come in under budget though.

We went to the interview room where I sat on the plastic chair reserved for criminals.  It was from the 60s as well but had no cushion so we were able to sanitize it after some drunk that had pissed his pants sat on it.  The chief got the seat where the cop always sat.

Out of everything, this one thing bothered me more than anything.

New Blogging Plan

Brand_new I've been away from blogging for a while trying to decide what I want to be if I grow up.  I didn't come up with any definite answers so it will be best for me to stall off the growing up process for as long as possible.

There are some things that I do want to do while I grow up though.  Two of those things are reading and writing.  I need to finish my book and try getting through some of the books sitting on my "to read" list.  I have been a non-reader for far too long.

I also need to get back to my exercise program.  My 90 day experiment was cut short by the stick strike to my trachea but that's healed up and it's time to get back to exercising.

All of this leading to my point.  I'm only going to write one blog post per day.  I'll alternate between the two blogs and probably post some small commentary on the opposite blog for the day.  Nothing that will take much time but probably a note of what was posted on the other blog for the day.  The themes will stay the same with Success Warrior being about money and Chronicles being about just about everything else with regular posts on cop stories, fitness, family, and humor.
